Just a word of advice - Take the time to learn to use the tools you choose. With a little study some of these are really powerful but for non-technical they can seem a little daunting.
JustinGuitar - A great beginners video course but there is also a wealth of songs and some really good theory material on the site too.
Yousician - An online guitar 'tutor' great for motivation and repetitive engaging practice in the early stages. There is a subscription option but its also Free to Play in a timed mode.
ChordPulse allows you to build a Chord progression and even provides a backing track of sorts at any given tempo. The free version has 20 odd "styles" which seem to be useful enough for now.
Once the sequence is added you can save it and loop it - even add a count in. I have been playing with it for a couple of hours now and I really think this is the missing link between the Yousician song interface and jamming with the real song.
Tuxguitar - Freeware Guitar Pro tab editor
Audacity - Play / Create / Edit AND SLOW DOWN Audio files !!
Hydrogen - Drum machine - soo much more interesting than a metronome.
Youtube - Well it goes without saying really but here are some good channel sources
- Steve Stine - This guy is a really great teacher
- Guitar Lessons365 - Some good play along videos
- GuitarJamz - More simple breakdowns
I have also looked at these apps / sites
RiffStation - Another audio track editor that allows tempo control plus much more. However its not free and currently I can get all the same functionality / information from Audacity and Youtube. I'm a long way off tabbing my own stuff yet so I don't need some of the cooler functionality . . yet !
Final Comment - Do your homework , question and compare there is very rarely a black and white yes / no answer in Music! There are always alternatives take the time to find the one that suits you.
